Brahma E7/L vs Parker XT09: Which Oil Valve Fits Your Burner?


The Brahma E7/L and Parker XT09 are commonly

associated with compact solenoid valves used in oil burners, boilers and industrial heating equipment. Although the products may appear similar and are available in comparable voltage and connection configurations, they should not automatically be treated as direct replacements.

The first important distinction is that Brahma E7/L is a valve model, while Parker XT09 is an electrical coil designation. A Parker valve marked XT09 will normally have a separate Series 131 valve-body identification. Both markings must be checked before comparing it with the Brahma E7/L 13191801 oil solenoid valve.

What Does Parker XT09 Mean?

XT09 does not identify the complete Parker valve. It identifies the coil installed on a compatible Parker valve body.

Parker’s documentation lists the XT09 as a Class F AC coil with:

  • 12 VA service consumption

  • 9 W operating power

  • 20 VA inrush consumption

  • 50 Hz single-frequency operation

  • IP54 protection with its specified plug and cable assembly

The XT09 coil can be used with certain Parker Series 131 valve bodies. Therefore, a marking such as “XT09 230/50” only confirms the coil voltage and frequency. It does not confirm the port size, orifice, pressure capacity or exact valve-body configuration.

Before selecting a replacement, locate the complete Parker valve-body marking, such as Series 131I or 131A, in addition to the XT09 coil marking.

Are Brahma E7/L and Parker XT09 Interchangeable?

They may serve a similar function, but they are not automatically interchangeable.

Both can be used in normally closed, direct-operated oil-valve applications, and both may be available with 1/8-inch connections and approximately 230 V/50 Hz electrical ratings. However, several important differences remain.

1. XT09 Is Only the Coil Identification

A technician cannot select a replacement using “XT09” alone. The Parker body could have a different orifice or pressure rating depending on whether it is a 131I, 131A or another compatible configuration.

2. The Orifice Sizes Differ

The Brahma E7/L 13191801 uses a 1.5 mm orifice. Parker documents a 1.7 mm orifice for the Series 131I and a 2.2 mm orifice for the Series 131A.

A different orifice can alter the oil-flow characteristics of the burner system. The replacement must follow the burner manufacturer’s requirements.

3. Electrical Connections May Differ

The Brahma A3C or AFD arrangement and Parker XT09 plug-and-cable arrangement are not necessarily mechanically or electrically identical.

Even when both coils are rated around 230 V/50 Hz, the terminal arrangement, cable length, connector, mounting and enclosure protection may differ.

4. Pressure Ratings Are Not Identical

The Brahma E7/L configuration is commonly specified up to 20 bar. Parker lists a maximum AC operating differential of 25 bar for the 131I body and 15 bar for the 131A body.

The number printed on the XT09 coil does not identify which pressure rating applies. The valve body must be identified.

5. Mounting Dimensions Must Be Checked

Matching pipe threads do not guarantee that a replacement will fit. Compare:

  • Overall valve height and width

  • Direction-of-flow marking

  • Inlet and outlet orientation

  • Coil clearance

  • Cable exit direction

  • Fixing arrangement

  • Space available inside the burner

When Should You Choose the Brahma E7/L?

Choose the Brahma E7/L 13191801 when:

  • The original valve is marked Brahma E7/L or product code 13191801

  • The burner manufacturer specifies the Brahma model

  • G 1/8-inch female inlet and outlet connections are required

  • A 1.5 mm orifice is specified

  • The correct 230 V/50 Hz version matches the burner supply

  • The electrical connection and mounting dimensions match

  • IP65 protection is required with the corresponding Brahma version

Using the original model is normally the lowest-risk approach when an exact replacement is available.

When Might a Parker Series 131 with XT09 Be Appropriate?

A Parker configuration may be appropriate when:

  • The original valve body is marked Parker Series 131

  • The existing coil is marked XT09

  • The complete Parker body code is available

  • The port, orifice and pressure rating match the burner specification

  • The XT09 voltage and frequency match the burner supply

  • The existing wiring and cable arrangement are compatible

  • The burner or equipment manufacturer permits the Parker configuration

Do not order only by requesting a “Parker XT09 valve.” Supply the complete body marking, coil marking and photographs of the existing assembly.

  4. Supply voltage and frequency

  5. Normally closed or normally open operation

If any of these details differ, obtain confirmation from the burner manufacturer or a qualified combustion technician.

Final Recommendation

The Brahma E7/L 13191801 and Parker Series 131 with an XT09 coil belong to the same general category of compact oil-burner solenoid valves, but they should not be described as universal drop-in replacements.

The Brahma E7/L is a complete model with a defined 1/8-inch female connection arrangement and 1.5 mm orifice. XT09 identifies only the Parker coil; the Series 131 body code is needed to determine the valve’s orifice and pressure capability.
